It’s been a while, but the Eurovision Song Contest is over again and I have added many new songs to my playlist. Time to talk about this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
First, I’d like to take a look at the top ten of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.
And let me follow this up by saying Austria is a well-deserved winner – Conchita Wurst had a great song and performance. I am happy my country made it so high up, though! I thought the song of The Common Linnets was excellent – certainly different from the other Eurovision Song Contest entries.
Now, I would like to take a moment to talk about some my favorite songs. Please note that I am not listing all of them and my favorite songs tend to change over time.
Israel: Mei Finegold – Same Heart
Israel didn’t even make it to the final, I don’t understand why. This song is my absolute number one favorite right now. I love Mei’s voice and the beat of the song. Plus, she sings partially in her own language, which is awesome.
Ireland: Can-Linn – Heartbeat
Ireland didn’t make it to the final, either. Another big disappointment. The song is absolutely amazing, the singer is beautiful and I love the dancing by the guys in the back.
France: Twin Twin – Moustache
I’m a sucker for ‘crazy’, over-the-top songs. I love watching the performers have fun on the stage. Another example of such a song is Iceland this year, love that song too.
Netherlands: The Common Linnets – Calm After The Storm
I like how Calm After The Storm is totally different than the other songs this competition. Great song.
Romania: Paula Seling & OVI – Miracle
They’re back! I loved them when they entered the Eurovision Song Contest with their song ‘Playing With Fire’ back in 2010 and I love their song ‘Miracle’ as well. Paula has a great voice and is great at reaching high notes.
Denmark – Basim – Cliché Love Song
I’d like to end my list with Basim. A great upbeat song, good sound, nice to listen to.
Again, this list is not complete. I also love Slovenia, Iceland, Switzerland, Austria, Armenia, Greece… but these are really my absolute favorites at the moment. Until next year!
