Eurovision Song Contest 2014

It’s been a while, but the Eurovision Song Contest is over again and I have added many new songs to my playlist. Time to talk about this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

First, I’d like to take a look at the top ten of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.

Conchita Wurst

Austria 331 points
Netherlands 222 points
Armenia 193 points
Sweden 190 points
Poland 162 points
Russia 132 points
Switzerland 114 points
Ukraine 112 points
Romania 103 points
Hungary 98 points

And let me follow this up by saying Austria is a well-deserved winner – Conchita Wurst had a great song and performance. I am happy my country made it so high up, though! I thought the song of The Common Linnets was excellent – certainly different from the other Eurovision Song Contest entries.
Now, I would like to take a moment to talk about some my favorite songs. Please note that I am not listing all of them and my favorite songs tend to change over time.

Israel: Mei Finegold – Same Heart

Mei FinegoldIsrael didn’t even make it to the final, I don’t understand why. This song is my absolute number one favorite right now. I love Mei’s voice and the beat of the song. Plus, she sings partially in her own language, which is awesome.

Ireland: Can-Linn – Heartbeat

Cann-LinnIreland didn’t make it to the final, either. Another big disappointment. The song is absolutely amazing, the singer is beautiful and I love the dancing by the guys in the back.

France: Twin Twin – Moustache

Twin TwinI’m a sucker for ‘crazy’, over-the-top songs. I love watching the performers have fun on the stage. Another example of such a song is Iceland this year, love that song too.

Netherlands: The Common Linnets – Calm After The Storm

The Common LinnetsI like how Calm After The Storm is totally different than the other songs this competition. Great song.

Romania: Paula Seling & OVI – Miracle

Paula Seling & OviThey’re back! I loved them when they entered the Eurovision Song Contest with their song ‘Playing With Fire’ back in 2010 and I love their song ‘Miracle’ as well. Paula has a great voice and is great at reaching high notes.

Denmark РBasim РClich̩ Love Song

BasimI’d like to end my list with Basim. A great upbeat song, good sound, nice to listen to.

Again, this list is not complete. I also love Slovenia, Iceland, Switzerland, Austria, Armenia, Greece… but these are really my absolute favorites at the moment. Until next year!
