Sometimes when I want to use my Wacom tablet, particularly with GIMP, I have some sort of input lag, which prevents me from being able to make smooth lines. I don’t know what causes it, but unplugging the tablet and plugging it back in doesn’t seem to help. So, rather than always restarting my entire system (because that fixes the problem), I looked for a quicker way to fix this problem with the input lag. And I’ve found it!
Fix Wacom tablet input lag
Whether it works for all Wacom tablets, I do not know. The tablet I use is a Wacom Bamboo tablet. To fix the input delay, take the following steps: (please note, I use Windows 7 – so this tutorial is for Windows 7).
- Go to your Control Panel
- Click on Device Manager
- Unfold ‘Human Interface Devices’
- Right click on Wacom Tablet and click ‘Disable’
- Right click again and click ‘Enable’
Try it out in your favorite program – in my case, GIMP – and it should work just fine again.
