Backyard Cats is the name of the YouTube Channel where you can find and follow the shenanigans of my cats, Tommy (2012) and Ricky (2020).
The name Backyard Cats refers to the fact that Tommy and Ricky are indoor cats – but not really, they have a backyard to explore and relax in. It was a conscious choice to not let the cats roam free outside.
I thoroughly enjoy making videos of my cats, so although this YouTube Channel started out as a hobby, it has become a pretty serious one. I have invested in proper equipment to record the cats and I spend around 30 minutes to an hour per day making and editing videos.
Through the videos of Tommy and Ricky, it is my intention to provide happiness and joy to people who love cats. I upload a new video or YouTube Short almost daily.
On Backyard Cats, you can really enjoy my cats being cats. They do what they love, and I hope to catch them at the right moment when they do something outstanding!
About Tommy and Ricky
This is Tommy, he is turned ten years old on July 31st. He joined our family back in 2012, when he unexpectedly came running through the door. At just about 3 months old, he ran around the house, meowed and fell asleep on a mattress on the floor. Unfortunately we had to send him back out later, as he belonged to our neighbor. Lucky for us: Tommy was up for adoption! So we hurried over to our neighbor and took Tommy back to our home.
He is a cute red cat who loves sleeping during the day and going into the garden in the evening. Tommy is scared of most sounds.
Ricky is feisty little princess, with a super cute face and a tiny body. Ricky is also very naughty, though. Originally adopted as a male kitten, she turned out to be a female. She’s adorable, which allows her to get away with many things. Her fur is soft, her eyes are like gemstones in the sunlight and her nose is innocently pink. She seems to stay quite small, despite having turned two years old on June 12th!
Ricky gets startled easily, but is not as scared as Tommy. She likes chewing on plastic… and tends to want the plastic to disappear into her little tummy. This is potentially dangerous, so we try our best to avoid plastic everywhere!
