If you have indoor cats, you know how important it is to keep them active and entertained. Without access to the outdoors, whether in a backyard or a patio, cats can easily get bored or restless. Such is the story of my two cats, who used to have a nice backyard to roam in, and are now “forced” to stay indoors. Luckily, they do have a lot of toys and access to screened windows.
Regardless, I occasionally buy some toys for them. So today I’ll be reviewing the Automatic String Lifting Toy, an automatic toy designed to keep your cat moving, thinking, and having fun indoors.
Easy to Attach: Play Anywhere!
Thanks to its threaded fixation design, this toy of approx. 8 cm x 6.5 cm can be easily attached to the edge of a table, a shelf, or even your cat’s scratch post. I chose to attach it to the latter. It stays firmly in place, so you don’t have to worry about it falling off or moving around.
Moves on Its Own: Keeps Cats Engaged
What makes this toy special is its automatic lifting feature, powered by batteries. Once turned on, the toy lifts and drops the fluffy fur ball in random ways, mimicking the movement of prey. This should excite your cat and keep them curious. It’s a great way to activate their natural hunting instincts without needing your full attention. While your cat is chasing the ball, you’re free to relax, work, or do other tasks around the house. It’s playtime made simple! At least, that’s what the toy promises.

Review: Is the Automatic String Toy Effective?
Unfortunately, only Ricky engaged with it when I activated the toy for the first time. And not for very long. Tommy stared at it, and ran out the room. :(
I think the toy looks like it should be fun for cats to play with, but somehow, my cats are extremely difficult to please. I mean, they already have a cat tunnel, an automatic cat laser, colorful springs, a window hammock and so much more!
Although I generally prefer toys that can be charged with a USB, this toy requires two AAA batteries. The toy should turn itself off after 5 minutes of use, though, so it should save the battery power where it can.

Final Thoughts
For my cats, once again, this automatic cat toy for indoor cats was not a success. As I said before, I do see the value of it, so if you can snap it up for cheap, I would say it’s worth a try. One thing I would like to mention about the automatic string lifting toy for cats, is that accidents can happen with a string. Believe it or not, Ricky’s toe has been caught by string toys before when she was a kitten, while she was just playing. Luckily, I was right there both times to rescue her – the string was tightened so hard around her toe that it hurt her and she squeaked! As a result, I never allow her to be unattended with anything string-like ever again. So keep that in mind…
When this cat toy is not in use, I wind the string around the toy so that the cats can not play with it unless I allow the string to come down and press the button to start the toy.
