A blog post dedicated to delicious Dutch food products. Snacks, cookies and other foods that I have enjoyed throughout the years.
Some of the pictures are rather small, sorry about that! A lot of these images were uploaded around 2016 – when my layout and screen resolution were smaller. I’m still happy to share these with you, though!
Custard cakes! Super tasty. I bought these one more time shortly before moving out of the Netherlands.
Bastogne cookies, also known as “Bastognekoeken” in Dutch, are a popular type of spiced biscuit in the Netherlands. They are known for their crunchy texture and rich, caramel-like flavor, which comes from a combination of brown sugar, cinnamon, and other spices. These cookies are super tasty dipped in a cup of coffee!
A simple, small dessert that was only 25 euro cents at the time: chocolate mousse!
Available during the festive season – I always enjoyed buying chocolate covered cookies for Christmas. These are chocolate covered star-shaped cookies with sprinkles on top!
A ”gevulde koek” in the shape of a bunny, for Easter! A gevulde koek is a traditional Dutch pastry that is very popular in the Netherlands. The name literally translates to “filled cookie” or “stuffed biscuit”. The outer layer of a gevulde koek is made from a rich, buttery dough with a crumbly texture. The filling inside the pastry is made from almond paste (known as amandelspijs in Dutch). A gevulde koek always has an almond on top of it!
I’ve been drinking instant coffee and iced coffee for quite some time now. I used to drink Douwe Egberts, a Dutch brand.
Although I was more of a tea drinker, I couldn’t help but consume these sugary drinks… and I still do. But now, I drink mostly Nescafe instant coffee, very sometimes Jacobs.
A random brioche bun and a cup of pink juice in a cute Easter cup. I forgot what it was called. Some sort of strawberry drink. :-)
Easter eggs! Or ”paaseieren” in Dutch. I prefer them with a soft, creamy filling.
Tea with biscuits! In my favorite Sanrio Little Twin Stars mug!
So called “tosties”! Toasted bread with ham and cheese, and sometimes onion.
Sea fruits – ”zeevruchten”. Belgian chocolades, with a creamy hazelnut filling.
Thank you for having a look through my eating habits! I enjoy sharing these (mostly typical Dutch) food items with you. ^_^
