I had been thinking about it for a while, and I finally decided to do it! I gave inspiremari.nl a completely new look! Well, I did keep the background, but other than that, the site is entirely renewed!
With this change, I wanted to especially improve the front page of my blog by being able to easily highlight more content. My personal blog is not just dedicated to one niche, after all. Although I mainly blog about art related stuff, there are a couple of posts that I think deserve more attention. And with this new layout, I am able to give them that!
Changing the layout of a website always brings about some unexpected situations. While it largely went smoothly, I did have to fix a couple of errors. Plus, I had to find a work-around to a couple of design preferences. ^_^; All in all, it took about a day to get the site ready.
A Brand New Layout for InspireMari
Working with WordPress, this layout has a lot more features that I really want to take advantage of. Above the content, on the homepage, I can highlight some posts I really want to share. And at the bottom on the homepage, I can show my latest art posts!
Plus, I’m able to easily customize the footer of my website. I’m excited to be able to show as much content as possible.
Although it is my goal to bring back that spark that the old internet had, I can’t ignore that a lot of things have changed and a typical early 00’s layout would not cut it anymore. I know that this layout is also far more modern compared to my last one, but I think the ability to display more content is more important right now. Because I have only one chance to grab a visitor’s attention. And there are simply a couple of things that I really want to share with as many people as possible. So, the website being optimized for mobile is also an essential feature.
Anyway, I’ll still be tweaking some colors and styles here and there, but those are minor changes. This new layout is final for InspireMari.nl. As for the screenshot – I accidentally uploaded my old logo and took a screenshot of that. As you can see, I made a new logo instead. :-)
