Linux: How to Restart the Internet Without Restarting the Computer

I have two different types of internet connection, and my Tapo C200 camera is connected to the 5Ghz version of my internet. I like to monitor my cats with a Tapo C200 camera by opening the camera stream in VLC on my laptop. To connect properly, I have to be on the exact same internet connection as the camera. Unfortunately, my laptop is kind of wonky in that regard and I often ended up restarting my laptop until that internet connection even became available in my networks list.

Luckily, there is a quicker way to get this done!

How to Restart the Internet on Linux

Open your command line and type the following:

sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager

You will then be prompted to enter your password. Enter your device’s password.

Your internet should now be restarted.
