My YouTube Video Got Reported for Animal Abuse

So, a day ago, I uploaded a funny cat video of me slapping Ricky on her butt. Repeatedly. For a minute (but in 5x the speed). I could make a one hour video if my arm wouldn’t get tired, because after Tommy, Ricky now also developed a liking for getting pet on the butt!

The video is Ricky lying on top of her scratch post and me slapping her butt. That’s it. I’m not holding her down, she’s not angry, not trying to run away. Spanking My Tuxedo Cat For 1 Minute (x5 speed) and maybe people don’t understand that I’m not actually spanking my cat, even though they can see that clearly in the video. o.O

Apparently I’m a “Bad Owner”

First, someone commented “Bad owner”. :( Aww. I’m such a bad owner, I’m prepared to shell out hundreds of euros to fly with my cats to a new home. I’m such a bad owner, I have window protection installed so they can’t fall out of the windows. I’m such a bad owner, I have a security camera setup to monitor my cats regardless of the window protection. I’m such a bad owner, I’ll wait with clipping her nails if she really doesn’t want me to to, and try again later. I’m such a bad owner, I make sure to remove even the smallest item that could be harmful to my cats, like plastic bags (Ricky eats plastic), staples, long strings (that’s a story for another day). I’m such a bad owner, I give my cats filtered water. I even rented an apartment as big as I could afford, so that they have enough space to roam and run around. The entire backyard in The Netherlands used to be completely fenced off for flip’s sake. Hecc, I even shoo my cats off of my phone when they’re lying on it, so that they don’t get radiated.

I’m not saying I’m perfect, but I sure am doing my best to give these animals the best life I can possibly provide them. So if you want to direct your attention to people who treat animals badly, I would like to refer to you to the concept of fake animal rescue videos, which is actual animal abuse disguised as good intentions. And it’s heart-breaking to see how successful these people are.

Reported.

Because what happened next? Yeah. Someone said they reported my video for animal abuse. Apparently this one minute video is going “viral” (well, for my standards at least! XD I mean my videos normally don’t get more than 50 views… this one got 250 in 24 hours time).

Whether it has actually been reported or the person just said they did, I dunno. It would really tick me off if YouTube would actually remove my video lol. I mean, there’s tons of people fighting against the hordes of fake animal rescue videos being uploaded to YouTube (and Facebook, and Twitter and Instagram) and they don’t get removed, causing endless suffering to especially kittens, cats, puppies and dogs, as well as monkeys.

I’m not even able to monetize my video at this point. I wish. Because if I could monetize my channel, guess what I would do with the income? I would get my cats a backyard again. Because I know they miss it. I would get a house with a yard and create a catio (domestic cat enclosure) in it. With protection from the elements. And it would be a safe catio. It would make them happy and I am happy when they are happy.

Tommy is turning 13 years old in a couple of days. I would love to be able to provide him with a safe, calm place to enjoy the outdoors as he becomes older.

I mean, I’m saving up for this particular goal either way, but if I can’t monetize the things that I do, it’s just going to take longer.

This picture was taken this morning.

Support My Channel to Support My Cats

So please consider supporting my Backyard Cats YouTube Channel. All views, subs, likes are much appreciated! If I could monetize my channel, all income earned through it would go straight to my cats. I try to make the videos as entertaining as possible and upload as frequently as possible. Thank you!
